Scarecrow Festival Back for 2025!
The East Budleigh Scarecrow Festival is back on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th June! Come and join in the weekend of fun and games for every age. As well as providing an imaginative display of scarecrows created by our village residents using their wit, invention and recycling skills, there are plenty of activities and refreshments to enjoy. |
The Scarecrow Festival would not be the same without the ‘Roger Conant Duck Race’. Be prepared to get your feet wet at 3pm as you get your duck ready to beat the best of the rest in this fierce competition from ‘East Budleigh’ to ‘Salem’ to win a cash prize. And if you don’t win on Saturday, don’t worry, there’s another chance on Sunday!
Some wonderful local businesses are supporting the fundraising event and have
generously provided great prizes to be won. To win a prize, head to the Raffle ticket station to be in-it-to-win-it. In particular, thanks to Gilbert Stephens Solicitors for their sponsorship of the festival.
Up at the church there will be a display of knitted garments being prepared to send to Moldova with the charity CR2EE. Fancy a panoramic view of the area? Well, you’re in luck! There will be a chance to go up the All Saints bell tower to admire the rolling countryside views. You can also try your hand at bellringing on both afternoons between 2 and 4pm.
Whether you are a dog owner or just have a soft spot for those four-legged canines, come along to the Recreation Field at midday on Sunday for the East Budleigh Dog Show. See below for the times and classes.
You will also find an impressive display of classic cars and rally cars in the village throughout the day. Cars and bikes can arrive at any time and are parked at the vicarage car park. The show is on all day (11 am to 4pm).
The event will close with a Songs of Praise service in All Saints Church at 6pm on Sunday evening.
There will be something for everyone to enjoy – cash is preferred so that you can join in all the fun! (£1 for car parking - follow the signs for parking at the Recreation Field).
