Princess Diana and James Hewitt
According to Anna Pasternak's Princess in Love, many people like to think of this secluded coastline as the place where Diana, Princess of Wales, and her lover James Hewitt went for "long romantic walks". The affair started during the unhappy period of her marriage to Prince Charles and is thought to have continued for five years, from 1986 to 1991.
Diana would visit Hewitt and they would stay at his mother's cottage near Ebford. It is said that they enjoyed walking along Budleigh's pebbled beach where they felt safe that she would not be recognised.
There have been many suggestions that Hewitt is the biological father of Prince Harry, probably due to them both having red hair. However, Diana and James started their affair long after Prince Harry was born in September 1984.
