Representatives of the traders’ group ‘Shop Budleigh’ have been hard at work this year, securing funding and talking to suppliers of new Christmas lights for the town. The existing lights, many now almost ten years old, were, thanks to our marine climate, reaching the end of their natural life and so Shop Budleigh took on the task of securing replacements.
Funding to buy and install the lights this year has been generously provided by Budleigh Salterton Town Council, Budleigh Lions, Rockfish, and DCC Councillor Christine Channon. Huge thanks go to those funders, and also for the number of smaller donations received.
The lights have been secured for this year, and in the coming weeks, you’ll see the operatives testing the wall fixings, and then installing the lights on the High St. We thank you for your tolerance and patience while this work is carried out.
The hard work doesn’t stop there! For safety reasons, we can no longer make use of the generous services of volunteers to install the Christmas lights. Consequently, there is a cost attached to repeat installations each year. We would also love to add to the collection of lights, to further improve and bolster the festive display next year. So, Shop Budleigh will soon be placing collection pots in shops and pubs around the town. If you feel you would like to donate to the lights, please pop your £££ in these pots! If you or your business would like to donate a larger amount by way of sponsorship, please do get in touch with Shop Budleigh via email: [email protected]
Thank you, Shop Budleigh
